Collected our new pullets at the weekend. They are hybrids; we have a Coral, a Silver Nick, a Magpie and a Speckledy.
They are already laying eggs of various different sizes and colours. Corals apparently lay coral coloured eggs - not sure whose are whose at the moment.
In only a few days the egg cupboard is full again...
...and it's potato and herb omelette for lunch with homegrown rocket.....just call me Barbara!
That's where we got our lovely girls from ... it is an excellent place which gives lots of helpful advice. Sadly Mr Urban Fox has no respect for that sort of thing and despite our vigilence crept in early a couple of weeks ago and destroyed our pride and joy. I miss them so much but I'm not quite ready to replace them yet. Have great fun with yours.
ReplyDeleteHi, just found your blog via Jane at Snapdragon. It's lovely! I've really enjoyed reading it and the pictures are lovely.

To Lalabibaby - I sadly lost my first hens last year and it's taken some time to pick myself up and start again, so I know how you feel.
ReplyDeleteTo Woo - It was very sweet of Jane at Snapdragon to mention us and we will do like wise when I post our trip to Scotland. We really enjoyed her lovely garden, beautiful work and the wonderful shop/workshop. So inspiring!
